Zachary O’Connor

About

Hellooo! I’m Zachary, a filmmaker and creative. I’m a Cinematographer, Storyboard Artist, Concept Artist, and Colorist— all things visual, I’m all in, no matter the genre or format.

I hail from Fredericksburg, Virginia. I received a BFA in Cinematography from DePaul University in Chicago, where I also minored in Virtual Production Stage Operations. If you need someone familiar with LED Volume sets, Unreal Engine, or VFX Supervision, I’m your guy.

I’m currently based near Washington DC, but I’m available to travel, and have connections in Chicago.

What I Do

CINEMATOGRAPHer

This is my main gig. Whether it’s DPing, gaffing, operating, rigging— the visual storytelling is what I love. If you need a solo shooter, a crew member, or just want to talk lenses, reach out.

COLORIST

From continuity cleanup to creative grading, I have experience doing it all. With enough knowhow, you can do just about anything in DaVinci, and I’d love to help you out.

Storyboard Artist

If you need help planning your shoot or communicating your vision to your clients or director, I can help. Quick yet clear, my hand-drawn storyboards can be yours today.

Directing

After acting in theater and film for nearly eight years, I have a deep passion for performance. It can be guiding a seasoned actor through a tough scene or coaching a real person on a teleprompter. I like to meet everyone where they’re at.

VFX Supervision

My BFA contains a minor in “Virtual Production Stage Operations.” What does that mean? It means I know how to work with LED Volumes, Unreal Engine, version control software, and capturing the best information on-set to give the VFX artists in post the material they need to make great work and move fast.
